I grew up in a cool family. My dad is Jack Maloy from WDVE radio, my mom
is pure
magic, and my sister is smart & funny, but in the witness
protection program. I struggled through high school, then somehow graduated
from
St.
Vincent College with a BA in Communication. I used that expensive degree
to become one of the best waitresses in Pittsburgh. At 25 years young, i
took the advice of my lovely mom and tried open mike at the Pittsburgh Funnybone.
I won the contest my very first night on stage, then bombed my second time,
and cried for 4 days. I realized that i'd never been this passionate about
anything (except music and beer) so i decided to make this dream a job. (That
sounded so cheesy, I know.) So, I got serious about stage time and writing
material, started to get lots of gigs, quit my day job, and I have been doing
clubs, firehalls, private parties, prisons, theaters and colleges all over
the country, working about 43 weeks a year for 7 years now! You are pretty
much up to date.
My Act
It's very awkward to describe yourself, especially when you're not an ego
maniac. So i will tell you what people say about me: charismatic, energetic,
refreshing, spontaneous, fun, "out there" (whatever that means)
and quick on my feet ( I like that one...) I definitely have alot of fun
with the audience, so no two shows are ever the same, but I tangle with the
crowd in a very playful and non threatening way. My material is all over
the place,
and so is my delivery. Not G rated, but not filthy or offensive either.
I do alot of observational stuff, stories from real life experience, relationship
humor, and juggling. (Just kidding- no juggling.) I guess if i were to describe
my show, I'd say it's fun! You'll feel like you're with me, not just listening
to me, and it's easy to relate to. You won't have to think too hard. I know
i hated school, and you're there to laugh, right??
