Conan O’brien Tickets – Coco Takes Shot At Nbc With ‘prohibited’ Tour
Coco is back. The redheaded funny guy Conan O’Brien cannot legally make a return to late-night television until September thanks to provisions set by his contract negotiations with NBC, but just because he’s banned from TV doesn’t mean the comedian will be absent from the entertainment scene. Announced in mid-March, O’Brien will take to the comedy stage this spring, embarking upon a 30-date North American comedy tour dubbed the “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.”
Taking a shot at NBC for the umpteenth time, O’Brien’s title for his upcoming tour is a nod to legal provisions with the network, with which he severed ties earlier this year. O’Brien got bumped off the air to make room for Jay Leno back at his original timeslot after Leno’s 10 p.m. experiment failed, and he abruptly parted ways with NBC quickly following a nasty public dispute.
Now taking to the big stage to prove that his comedy act is brilliant and character is resilient, Conan O’Brien will tour the nation this spring with a much-anticipated comedy tour. Conan O’Brien tickets have been in such high demand since the comedian announced his forthcoming tour that he has already added second dates for shows in select cities, including New York, Chicago and Boston. The tour will kick off April 12 in Eugene, Ore., wrapping up June 14 in Atlanta, Ga. Announcing the Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour, O’Brien used his newly-created Twitter account to tweet: “Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour … I repeat: It’s half-assed.”
In a press release describing what Team Coco fans can expect from Conan O’Brien’s upcoming tour, the comedy show promises “a night of music, comedy, hugging and the occasional awkward silence” – everything that the redheaded laugh master is known for and more. O’Brien has remained a strong presence on the entertainment scene even though his title as Tonight Show host has been revoked, and he’s not about to let go of his comedic dominance.
Conan O’Brien is the classic case of working hard to make leaps in corporate America, growing up in an Irish Catholic family and majoring in history at Harvard University. After college, O’Brien started dabbling in writing, and he worked behind the scenes on Saturday Night Live before discovering improv comedy. After a stint writing for The Simpsons, Conan O’Brien met late night comedy and a love affair immediately ensued.
O’Brien succeeded comedian David Letterman on his late-night television gig in 1993, premiering his own Late Night with Conan O’Brien show to critical acclaim while using signature laugh-getters like tossing his tousled crop of red hair around and toting puppet pal Triumph the Insult Comic Dog along for adventures. After spending several award-winning years with Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Coco finally reached the ultimate honors in the late-night industry: succeeding Jay Leno in the coveted late-night program The Tonight Show. Debuting on June 1, 2009 with Will Ferrell as his first guest, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien went off with a bang – for seven short months, that is.
While Conan was collecting laughs on The Tonight Show, his predecessor Jay Leno tried an NBC trial run that moved his late-night routine to the early 10 p.m. timeslot. After ratings for both The Jay Leno Show and The Tonight Show failed to show success, however, NBC chose to move Leno back to his original late-night slot, thus giving O’Brien’s TV show the shaft. Declaring war against the network, however, O’Brien split from NBC and has thereafter garnered nationwide support in finding a new act.
Conan O’Brien will now wait out the time until September, when he’s able to sit behind a mahogany desk once again, but until then he will take his hilarious act to stages across the country. Tickets for the Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on TV Tour are available now from StubHub but may not be for long, prompting Conan fans to snatch them up before NBC cancels this show, as well (kidding, of course).
