comedy tragedy masks

Maskerading in film
Costumes are an essential element of visual media like cinema and theater. In the old days was a symbol of Greek comedy and tragedy picture of two masks – one happy and the other sorrowful. Back in those times, the actors had to wear huge masks, amplified their voices. The drama of the day had characters as high as seven feet thanks to their enormous masks and high shoes. After all characters had to be larger than life back in those days.
Today, thanks to the dependence of lighting, microphones and video cameras, actors have it much easier. They can now literally dress the part they play. You could say that ultimately, costumes add very little value to a movie. To combat this perception, we have the old adage, "Clothes maketh the man." Clothes can also determine how much Moolah the movie will rake in. You may have a wonderful script with excellent actors. But if you can not help ends with error to get it looks wrong, the success was somewhat uncertain. It is no wonder that fashion designers and costume designers are so much demand in this day and age. If you want an example of how the appearance of actors can affect the success of a movie or television show, Sex and the City is a good example.
As a result, the creators of the movie, Shakespeare in Love, dedicated a large part of their time and energy to recreate the Elizabethan times and a researcher working on the clothes of that period. Crowning achievement was winning film The Oscar for best costumes for their efforts. Apart from this, Titanic, Moulin Rouge and Chicago are examples of relatively recent films that have worked extremely hard just to get to look right.
As for masks, a trend we have to associate them with superhero movies. But Spiderman was one of many who tried to conceal his identity in a mask. Remember how Robin Williams pretended being a woman in Mrs. Doubtfire? It was certainly a mask with a difference. Recently, we saw Gwyneth Paltrow don a mask-like in her portrayal of an overweight woman in the hit movie, Shallow Hal. If you love fantasies, with Harry Potter's nemesis, Lord Voldemort is unforgettable. The mask is a very apt one for the character of "the one who is not being named. "
From movies to costume parties, can not do without masks. And movies like The Man in the Iron Mask and Jim Carrey stare, The Mask, has made anonymity fashionable.
