What are my chances of getting into Dartmouth College, Northwestern University, and University of Chicago?

I am Native American, I have a 3.6 GPA, I got a 28 on my ACT, I am President of National Honor Society, I am Captain of Comedy Sportz (improv Comedy), I volunteer at the humane society and salvation army, I have played violin for 13 years and am in a string quartet, I am a scholar athlete (tennis), I work at the zoo.
I also am taking 4 AP classes

First of all, I would like to say that your extracurriculars are spectacular! But, as the others have said, your low GPA is really holding you back. Being “Native American” won’t help much, I don’t think that any of these schools are doing affirmative action, although if you can write an essay that shows that your being a native American made it difficult for you to excel but you still did all these awesome things, then that would probably be a boost.

Darthmouth: With your GPA and relatively low ACT score [relative because it's great, but not for an ivy] I would say your chances are non-existent. I don’t know why these other guys are saying 20% or 50%, it’s either good or nothing. They don’t take out this magic roulette and place more chips for better students!

Very important admission factors:
* Character/Personal Qualities
* Class Rank
* Application Essay
* Extracurricular Activities
* Recommendations
* Rigor of secondary school record
* Standardized Test Scores
* Academic GPA

Northwestern University: Also non-existent, Northwestern embraces strong academic students and they have a 30-34 range for ACT.

Very important admission factors:

* Class Rank
* Application Essay
* Rigor of secondary school record
* Standardized Test Scores
* Academic GPA

University of Chicago: You actually have a great chance of getting into UC, they care more about rigor and such than your actual GPA. Their ACT range is also 28-33, so you fall in the lower 50% but still pretty good.

Very important admission factors:

* Character/Personal Qualities
* Application Essay
* Recommendations
* Rigor of secondary school record
* Talent/Ability

REMEMBER: Your extracurricular activities are only ONE factor. Talent/Ability is another [that would be your violin]. I don’t know if you’re “exceptional” at tennis. Exceptional means you can join their varsity.
